The UTO Academic Technologies unit focuses on direct faculty and research support with developing and implementing education technology tools, products, and processes.
Academic Technology Training and Instruction Support

- learning management systems
- media production for course delivery and enhancements
- educational media distribution and integration
- educational technology training and consulting
- researching and developing new approaches to technology enhanced education
Learning Management Systems
UTO Academic Technologies works to insure that the primary ASU Learning Management System–presently Blackboard–functions effectively and is well supported. This involves working closely with both internal ASU UTO staff as well as Blackboard hosting personal and helpdesk support staff. Academic Technologies supports ASU faculty with the integration and applied use of learning management systems to maximize the experience and educational outcomes for both instructors and students. Additionally, Academic Technologies maintains up-to-date knowledge of learning management systems throughout higher education, as well as in K-12, and works to implement best practices from all systems into the LMS strategies and approaches implemented throughout the ASU community.

Additional support is also made available for media production activities that directly advance university instructional material. This support includes access to media production equipment and expertise to facilitate the creation of rich media content for academic purposes. Example include online streaming video, podcast content for iTunes U, digital photography, and other similarly related materials.
